Aims of the Course:

To provide dental therapists and dentists with a thorough understanding of local anaesthesia techniques commonly used in clinical practice.

To enhance practical skills in delivering local anaesthesia effectively and safely on phantom heads.

To boost confidence in performing local anaesthesia procedures, addressing patient anxiety, and minimising risks of complications.

To ensure attendees are up-to-date with the latest anaesthetic techniques and protocols in the UK.

Learning Outcomes:

Upon successful completion of this course, participants will be able to:Demonstrate a thorough understanding of the anatomy relevant to local anaesthesia in dentistry.

Identify appropriate anaesthetic agents and techniques for different dental procedures and patient needs.

Safely and effectively administer local anaesthesia to a phantom head model.

Recognize, prevent, and manage potential complications of local anaesthesia, including overdose and adverse reactions.

Course will cover the following:

Introduction to Local Anaesthesia in Dentistry

Anatomy for Local Anaesthesia

Injection Techniques

Pharmacology and Dosing

Complications and Management

Patient Communication and Comfort

Practical Hands-on Training on Phantom Heads
